Ms. Kyriaki Kyliki Earns an AG Leventis Foundation Scholarship

Date: 04 Sept., 2017.

Congratulations to Ms. Kyriaki Kylili, PhD student at the Marine and Carbon Lab at the University of Nicosia, for receiving a prestigious A. G. Leventis Foundation scholarship. Competition for the awards is often stiff and selection is made from a large pool of well qualified candidates. Approximately one in eight applications is successful. The financial support will enable Kyriaki to investigate the problem of marine debris at the Mediterranean Sea— which is becoming increasingly more pressing. More specifically, Kyriaki’s research is concerned with mapping and mitigating the effects of plastic debris in the Mediterranean Sea and Cyprus in particular.

Established in May 1979 the A.G. Leventis Foundation constitutes the vision of Cypriot entrepreneur Anastasios G. Leventis (1902-1978). The Foundation aims to help society by focusing on education and culture. Over the past four decades, the A.G. Leventis Foundation has supported the promotion of Greek and Cypriot cultural heritage and funded pioneering research in environmental protection and medical research among else.
